Derek Thompson

Background:
Derek worked at Personalized Brokerage Services (PBS) for seven years prior to helping start Advisors Excel. At PBS, Derek started as an Annuity Marketer before helping start PBS’s new Long Term Care (LTC) InsuranceMasters group. In two years as Director of Marketing for LTC, Derek and his team grew the business into a unit that conducted $4 million in premiums annually. Next, Derek transitioned to Director of Marketing for all sales of annuities, life insurance and LTC insurance for the Central Region. Derek held this role, in which he managed 15 employees, until 2005 when he joined Cody and David in forming Advisors Excel. Derek also currently sits on the field advisory board for Allianz Life of North America and was a former board member of the local TOPEKA NAIFA CHAPTER.

Educational History:
Derek graduated from Washburn University located in Topeka, Kansas with a Bachelors Degree in Business. He was a member of the Washburn Golf Team for four years. Derek also holds his series 7,6,63 and his life and health license.

Family Information:
Derek is married to his wife Christin.  Christin was a member of the Marketing Department for Aviva until recently when she decided to manage the Thompson household full time. Derek and Christin have daughter, Carlie and a son Chase. Carlie enjoys dancing, singing, volleyball and basketball and Chase loves watching K-State basketball with his Dad. In his free time, Derek loves  to play golf and is an avid hunter and fisher.

Achievement you are most proud of:
I proposed to my wife in December of 2004 and two weeks later quit my job to start Advisors Excel with David and Cody.  The support of my family has been incredible. I am most proud of the experience in building a successful marketing company along with our great team here at Advisors Excel.
